SHOOTER James Bevis has clinched his fourth national indoor prone title in five years.

The Herefordshire ace was in the top form at Wolverhampton, finishing with a 600 maximum and 60 inner 10s.

Bevis did not take part in the competition last year due to bad weather and was delighted to regain the title.

Bevis also impressed in the standing discipline, taking third spot.

“It’s nice to start the year on the right foot,” said Bevis, who lives in Teignmouth, Devon.

“We have a busy year ahead, including the World Championships in Germany in July.

Bevis is also gearing up for competitions in Thailand, Denmark and the USA.

And he also looking to compete in his first 2.2 rifle event at the British Freerifle Championships at Bisley next month.

“Training is going very well and I am enjoying the training camps with the Great Britain team.

“My new fitness coach, John Vile, is a great coach and is carrying on the excellent work of Ben Harwood.

He is a member of Budleigh Farm Target Shooting Club in Dartmoor.

“The club is in a great location – right on the edge of the moors.”
