HEREFORDSHIRE will be well represented at the National Schools Trampoline Championship after several competitors from the county enjoyed success at the zonal championship in Loughborough.

Star performer was St Mary's High School's Liam Cotterrell who won his category to book a place in Newcastle on March 22.

The British Schools Gymnastics Association competitions are split into three annually with a top placing individuals and teams in the regional competition progressing to the zonal championship and then on to the national finals.

Children from Trinity Primary, St. Paul's Primary, Broadlands Primary, Kingstone & Thruxton Primary, Peterchurch Primary, Fairfield High, St. Mary's High and The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School were accompanied by coaches from Hereford Dynamix Trampoline Club to the regional competition where many made good progress..

Marcus Carey Powell of Trinity Primary placed first in the under-11 boys while children from St Paul's entered as individuals and also formed a team with Jasmine Parry placed second, Liberty Jones third and Rebecca Board fourth in the U11 girls, with their team placed first, six marks ahead of the second school.

In the under-13 boys category, Liam Cotterrell of St Mary's finished first with Sam Lloyd of Fairfield in second.

The Herefordshire competitors travelled to the zonal championships without any great expectations of success but aiming to enjoy the experience against schools from Wales, West Midlands, East Midlands and Eastern regions.

"The children surpassed all our expectations with many achieving podium positions and qualifying through to the National event," said delighted Dynamix head coach Sam Board.

Carey Powell came third in the under-11 boys while Parry and Jones placed fourth and fifth with their team, including Rebecca Board, topping the list of competitors.

Lloyd finished sixth to back up Cotterrell's winning performance.

"Well done to all schools that entered, and good luck to Trinity , St Paul's and St Mary's for the National Championship," said Sam Board.
