CYCLIST Annasley Park, who has won Herefordshire Sports' junior female sports achiever award, only came to the sport after injury ended her hopes of an athletics career.

She began racing last year and quickly made an impression by winning events against more experienced and mature opponents.

She started time-trial training and won the British Junior Championships by more than three minutes.

She has recently started concentrating on track cycling.

Swimmer Harriet Aldous Fountain was highly commended in this category after two wins in the British National Age Group finals in 100m and 200m backstroke.

She is the first City of Hereford swimmer to win one, let alone two, awards.

Another City of Hereford swimmer Hugo Lemar is the junior male sports achiever.

He was a finalist in the 200m breaststroke at the British National Age Group finals and is ranked number two in the country in the event.

He is the junior club captain at the club and has set himself the ultimate target of an Olympic place.

There are two highly commended awards in this category.

Kieran Lawley was second in his age-group discipline at the British championships at Taekwondo and has been selected for the England Junior team.

Fencer Isaac Florence, like Lawley a student at Hereford Sixth Form College, won the Welsh Youth Championship and qualified for the British Youth Championship with a number one ranking in Wales.
