A HEREFORD wrestler is hoping that he will grappling in front of his home city in the summer.

Carl Haffenden has been practising his moves with Ironfist Wrestling at Hereford Lads Club every Sunday for the past three months.

He was at the Richmond Club last weekend to see Ironfist’s main wrestlers compete in front of a packed audience and cannot wait to be part of the action for real.

“The goal is to be ready for the next show on June 14 and I’m going to push myself towards it,” said Carl.

“Myself and a couple of others are building up our characters, so we will be carrying on with the training and keep going.

“I have watched wrestling for years and used to do training, but it got a bit tedious.

“So, when the Ironfist opportunity came up, it was great because you can end up having an active part of the shows and train with some of the best wrestlers in Britain.”

Last Saturday’s packed-out show saw Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) wrestler Doug Williams beat Damian Dunne in the main event.

Doug has wrestled at Wembley Arena and has starred alongside huge names, such as Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle and Sting.

Other matches saw Killian Jacobs come out on top in a Money in the Bank ladder match to earn a shot at the British Championship.
