FORMER England and Great Britain blind football coach Tony Larkin has been working his magic in Belgium.
Larkin, who works at Hereford’s Royal National College for the Blind, led a weekend of intensive football training at Charleroi in Belgium.
Larkin worked with 15 players ranging from the age of just 10 up to 30 and an evening match was aired on French television.
“I was impressed with the way in which they played in the game and had taken on board the tips I’d given them.”
National governing body IBSA sought Larkin’s vast experience for the trip – he has travelled to other countries to help develop blind football at international level.
Larkin added: “I really enjoyed my time in Belgium and would be more than willing to return. It was a hard weekend for the players and the coaches but they all maintained their enthusiasm. There are at least six or seven players who have the potential to compete at international level.”
