St Martin's 3 Lads Club 2

TWO goals from player-boss Danny Moon were unable to bring Lads Club any reward at West Midlands League Division One strugglers St Martin's.

"I certainly didn't think we deserved to lose," said coach Richie Jones. "Maybe there was a bit of naivety on our part when after getting the equaliser we kept going for the winner and left ourselves open for the counter-attack.

"Although we had a lot of players missing, mainly due to work commitments, I think we played well and the work rate was particularly good.

Karl Bailey struck home to give St Martin's the lead and the Shropshire side extended their advantage when a corner landed at the feet of Sam Turner.

In the second half, the city side reduced arrears when Moon got on the end of a Ben Fuller free-kick and headed into the corner of the net.

Fuller shot straight at the keeper from a great opening before Bobby Terrett was felled in the area for Moon to score from the spot.

But, with Lads Club looking to seal their comeback with a winner, Bailey produced another fine finish on the counter to bag the points for the home side.
