HEREFORD United avoided their day in court when they settled with HMRC before their winding-up petition was due to be heard on Monday.

But the club acknowledge that there is plenty of work to do to complete the season.

Funds were 'secured and underwritten by the board' last Friday to satisfy the petition which required £36,500 to be paid for tax due.

But now the club are looking to increase fundraising activities to generate around £10,000 extra each month for the remaining months of the season.

The club have asked HUISA to front the fundraising activities but would like to hear any ideas from fans for fundraising streams.

The club have also appealed to fans to turn out in numbers for the remaining games of the season and to encourage friends and family to join them for matches at Edgar Street.

An encouraging turn-out of 2,106 for the match against Salisbury will help to achieve the board's aim of moving the average attendance closer to the 2,000-mark.

United have just one home game during February and are next in action next Monday night when they travel to Woking.
