A HAT-TRICK by Scott Turner returned Bartestree to winning ways as they dispatched Trysull 6-1 to retain a position among the West Midlands League Division One high-flyers.

The villagers took the lead on 10 minutes when Ryan Tabb headed in a Mark Langford corner and extended their lead when Turner finished off after the Trysull goalkeeper was unable to hold a fierce shot from Langford.

Weather conditions deteriorated still further in the second period when Turner wasted no time in extending the lead, shooting home after a fine run and cross by Matt Reeve.

Trysull pulled a goal back from the penalty spot but good work by Bartestree keeper Jon Hopkins avoided any further damage before Tom Parry restored the three-goal lead with an 18-yard shot.

Turner completed his treble after good work in midfield by Mark Hibbard and Langford, who rounded off the scoring by firing home a free-kick.

"It was a great team performance to get us back to winning ways after a poor December," said Bartestree boss Dave Cadwallader.

Ledbury Town suffered a second disappointing reverse against struggling St Martin's when they travelled to Shropshire.

And matters could have been even worse but for a fine display from 17-year-old goalkeeper Elliott Watts, who pulled off a number of excellent saves to keep the score-line respectable.

St Martin's hit the bar on four occasions and the quick reactions of Craig Kitchener and Pete Boyle brought a number of goal-line clearances.
