THE Herefordshire FA is looking for young people who have an interest in football volunteering to attend a Football Futures Leadership Day.

The event, on Friday, February 21 at the Hereford Academy is aimed at young people aged 12-19 who have an interest in volunteering in sport and would like to find out more about football volunteering in Herefordshire.

After a welcome by the newly formed Herefordshire FA Youth Working Group, the day will feature practical workshops surrounding coaching, refereeing and sports journalism delivered by experts.

Young leaders will also be given the opportunity to participate in small sided games during the day.

Expert coaches from the Tesco Skills Centre will lead the coaching workshop where Young Leaders will have the chance to have a go at delivering a session. They will also be able to help guide you on how to become a qualified coach.

The refereeing workshop will be a mixture of practical and theory and will give you the chance to ‘have a go’.

You will be given an overview of the laws of the game and given information about how to become a qualified referee.

The sports journalism workshop will be led by a leading local expert who will be able to share their experience from the world of journalism.

Young Leaders will be able to understand how to report on and effectively promote football back at their club and community to get the best responses.

The day costs £10 per person and this includes a free t-shirt and resources.
