Trysull 0 Lads Club 1

LADS Club moved back into the West Midlands League Division One's top 10 after a hard-fought away win.

Matt Evans bagged the winner 10 minutes from time just when a stalemate looked certain.

"It was a very gritty performance and we did not look like conceding," said coach Richie Jones. "If we defended like this as team more often then we would be much higher in the league.

"The game looked like it had 0-0 written all over it but if there was to be a winner then we deserved it more than Trysull as we had more possession and more goalscoring opportunities."

Ben Chambers missed a good early opportunity and Evans saw a header from a corner well saved.

But, at the other end, only a fine block by Liam Jones prevented a Trysull goal.

Lads Club should have had a penalty when Steve Dixon was brought down.

But the visitors broke through when Evans smashed the ball against the bar from a corner and the linesman raised his flag to say the ball had crossed the line.

Ledbury Town became the latest victims of runaway league leaders Bridgnorth when they went down 4-1 in Shropshire.

Dean Corbett scored Ledbury's consolation goal in very wet conditions.
