FORMER skipper Jamie Bullock believes that second place in Midlands One West is still a realistic aspiration for the Wyesiders after their fine win in Walsall.

"Lichfield are out there at the top and they are a good side," said the experienced forward.

"But I'm looking forward to facing them at home - we don't fear them.

"And I fancy us against everyone else in the division."

Bullock believes that the team has the right mixture of youth and experience to continue to do well.

"We are growing as a team all the time," he said.

"Young players like Alex Higginbotham and Jamie Humphreys are really making their way in the side and Perry Pudge has six tries this season," said Bullock.

"It's great to see the young players coming through and we also have the older heads in the side to settle things down.

"There are no egos in this side."

Bullock, whose try at Walsall was his sixth score of the season, was especially delighted by the latest success at an in-form Walsall side.

"It was a really good win for us as they were coming into the game on the back of a very good run," he said.

"It was very wet up there and you could see that they fancied taking us on up front.

"We nullified anything that they had to offer and after we got a couple of early scores, all they had to offer was a couple of penalties.

"They have got a very good kicker but they didn't look like scoring a try in the first half.

"It was a greasy, muddy, horrible day and there was only one team in it."

Bullock is now hoping that the weather will now relent to allow Saturday's scheduled home match to take place.

"We're playing Barkers Butts from Coventry and we'll hope that the pitch will dry out to allow the match to be played," he said.
