HEREFORD'S players and management were left frustrated by the weather once again after last Saturday's scheduled trip to Woking was called off due to the waterlogged state of the Kingfield Stadium.

And there was added annoyance as, due to Conference rules, the game could not be called off before the match-day despite it being clearly obvious on Friday that play was highly unlikely.

This required many of the players as well as management team Martin Foyle and Andy Porter to spend Friday night in Hereford ready for an early start on Saturday morning.

"You prepare right but there is nothing that anyone can do," said Josh O'Keefe, as he prepared for a three-hour journey home to Merseyside.

"The weather has been terrible everywhere so it's kind of expected - it's just one of those things."

O'Keefe scored more goals for the Bulls in 2013 than any other player, finding the net 14 times, and he acknowledged that the path back after a long spell on the sidelines with a broken arm has not always been easy.

"I've started to feel good," he said. "After my fractured arm, I struggled a bit when I first came back but at the moment, it's feeling good.

"I've still been wearing the bandage on my arm but I'm going to stop that this week. That will be my New Year's resolution."

As well as his own recovery from injury, O'Keefe is now looking to the Bulls to climb the table.

"There is room for improvement - at the start of the season we were struggling and it has been a bumpy ride," said the midfielder. "But I think everyone is gelling now and the performances have been a lot better in recent weeks.

"There have been injuries all over and I've never known anything like it - and injuries to important players as well, players who have been playing every week have been out and that has certainly hampered us."

And holiday successes against a couple of the fancied clubs has furthered his belief that things are on the up.

"The wins over Forest Green and Cambridge United have shown what we can achieve," he said.

"We looked at the Christmas period and it was as hard as you could get. But we have shown what we can do - now it's all positive and we are going to see what we can do against the teams who are not as high in the table.

"Forest Green will no doubt be looking for revenge tonight but we have shown what we can do against them and we'll be looking to do the same again."

O'Keefe believes that Luton are now favourites for the title, but admitted that there is plenty of time for things to change before the end of the season.

"At the moment, I think you have got to say Luton but it's a hard one to call at the moment because there is a long way to go," he said. "They look quite strong, though."

In February and March, we have some long trips but every game in this league is a hard game but it's a question of picking up as many points as we possibly can.
