BATSMAN Eral Anderson is the new first-team captain at Bromyard Cricket Club.

Anderson has been played at Flaggoners Green for the past four years and will be backed up by vice-skipper Ryan Tongue.

It will be Anderson's first campaign at Bromyard's helm in 2014 and he takes over the captaincy from former Sri Lanka all-rounder Dinusha Fernando.

Matt Bullock is remaining as Bromyard's first-team coach and will be assisted by Richard Brookes.

Ashley Bullock was re-elected chairman at Bromyard's packed annual general meeting.

He reflected on a hugely successful season in which the first team finished runners-up in the Worcestershire County League Division One.

After failing to win any of their first six matches, the team went unbeaten for their final 16 games, including a record-equalling run of seven victories.

The third team finished second in Worcestershire County League Division Nine, and the Sunday team won the GB Liners Marches Sunday League title.

Bromyard's second team finished mid-table in Worcestershire County League 2nd XI Division Two.

Mike Reece, who has played for Bromyard for 10 seasons, is the new second-team captain, with George Godsall, his deputy.

Tony Ree and Kevin Merris were re-elected as the respective third-team captain and vice-captain following the side's promotion-winning season.

And Graham Godsall, after almost a decade of involvement with the club, will fill the vacant Junior coaching co-ordinator's role.

Thomas Bayliss, 17, will take over the Sunday captaincy from Mike Reece, who will act as his deputy.

Other officers re-elected: Chris Graham (vice-chairman), Dan Mills (treasurer, membership secretary, Clubmark and club development plan manager); Edd Oliver (secretary, press officer, website administrator and league delegate), Clive Brazier (president), Jeff Bayliss (club captain and welfare officer), Dave Clegg (deputy welfare officer), and Gill Ree and Wendy Graham (junior organisers). Committee members re-elected: Tom Baylis, Jeff Mills, Chris Simmonds and Matt Beesley.

Meanwhile, Fernando scooped a hat-trick of honours at Bromyard's annual dinner and awards at Flaggoners Green.
