Ben Price goal helps Pegasus Juniors go second in West Midlands League Premier Division by beating Malvern Town

Pegasus Juniors 1 Malvern Town 0.
PEGASUS have moved back to second place in the West Midlands League Premier Division thanks to Ben Price’s decisive goal.
But it was hard work for Juniors who had to battle against 10 men for a long period after Malvern’s Aaron Richard was sent off for a two-footed tackle three minutes into the second period.
With a number of former players in a substantial crowd, Pegasus began well and created plenty of first-half chances.
Cory Hyde clipped the outside of a post, Anthony Robbins shot inches wide and Ben Price had a shot cleared off the line before firing just over following a flick by Chris Mortlock.
Shortly after Richard was dismissed for a foul on Mortlock, Price forced the ball into the net after keeper Charlie Weaver had parried an effort from Robbins.
But hopes that a flood of goals would follow proved fruitless although Pegasus retained possession for long periods.
Hyde and Mortlock both shot narrowly wide and the final action of the day saw Tom Dawson’s shot pushed around a post by Weaver.
Ledbury Town 2 Wem Town 1.
DESPITE the absence of several key players, Ledbury Town gained a revenge win over Wem to move back into the top five in Division One of the West Midlands League.
The young Ledbury squad rose to the occasion superbly with 17-year-old keeper Elliott Watts pulling off a number of saves to fend off the visitors.
After a goalless first-half, Ledbury took the lead when Tom Boyle’s corner was flicked on by Dean Corbett to Dan Herbert who headed home.
But the home defence relaxed and Wem were back on level terms seven minutes into the second period when their captain was able to score easily.
Town showed their resilience, however, and were back in front on 66 minutes.
Herbert, on this occasion, was the provider, heading a Tom Watkins throw-in into the box for Boyle to head home. The late sending-off of Wem sub Dave Barnett after a foul on Tom Watkins was a boost for Ledbury whose win was sealed by a fine late save from Watts.
