Mike Tansley reports from Wellington 1 Shifnal 1 in West Midlands League Premier Division

Wellington 1 Shifnal 1
A LATE Shifnal equaliser denied Wellington victory in a mid-table West Midlands League Premier Division clash from which neither side deserved to take all three points, writes MIKE TANSLEY.
With Welly leading 1-0 through a fine first-half strike from substitute Dave Price, Shifnal’s dogged persistence finally bore fruit as they scrambled home with just three minutes left on the clock.
The first half started slowly with both sides struggling to keep the ball for any sustained period, a few half chances the best either team could muster for the majority of the 45 minutes.
However, with Aaron Morgan going off injured, the introduction of Dave Price seemed to provide the spark that Wellington needed to take the lead.
The goal came following a long ball that Josh Hunt brilliantly controlled before laying if off to Price to bend it into the back of the net.
Hopes of a better second half soon faded as again chances were limited, thanks to some solid defending by both teams.
And it came as a surprise when the Welly defence failed to deal with yet another long ball into the box, allowing Tom Worthington to stab the ball home and earn the travelling side a hard earned point.
