Edwardians 17 pts Ledbury 14 pts A CONTROVERSIAL late try sent Ledbury crashing out of the Midlands Senior Vase at the second-round stage.
Edwardians were awarded a try in the penultimate play of the match despite Steve Humphreys appearing to take possession of the ball as it was grounded.
It was a blow for Ledbury, who looked to be heading through when Nick Frith converted a try from Matt Hallett to put the visitors 14-12 ahead with 10 minutes left.
Earlier, Ledbury opened the scoring in the 34th minute when centre Rob Anscomb raced through to touch down and Frith kicked the conversion.
But the Birmingham outfit had the wind in their favour in the second-half and set up their late salvo after scoring two tries, one of which was converted.
Ledbury’s scrum and line-out held up well against bigger forwards and they return to Midlands Three West (South) action this Saturday at home to Evesham.
Meanwhile, Bromyard had an away walk over against Birmingham Civil Service in the Midlands Junior Vase second round and Greyhound lost 51-7 at Woodrush.
