Big Match: Brimfield FC win 5-2 against Woofferton in Herefordshire Football League Division One derby
Woofferton 2 Brimfield FC 5
BRIMFIELD fought back from 2-0 down to claim the bragging rights in a passionate derby yesterday in Herefordshire Football League Division One.
Two goals from Chris Breakwell, a penalty from Tom Ballard and strikes from Charlie Byatt and Matt Davies led Duncan Morris' men to victory on a rain-hit afternoon.
Woofferton led 2-1 at the interval but Brimfield shone in the second half to win the much-anticipated first-ever meeting between the rival clubs.
Brimfield were Woofferton Colts last season and they looked in trouble against Steve Chadd's side, who scored twice in a minute.
Danny Gower broke the deadlock after 30 minutes when Brimfield goalkeeper Stefan Anthony could only parry Simon Bradley's free kick.
And Gower profited from a defensive mistake less than a minute later to double Woofferton's advantage.
But Brimfield reduced arrears before the break through Ballard's penalty and scored four goals without reply in the second half.
Gower was guilty of missing a string of chances in the match but goalkeeper Anthony made some fine saves from the former AFC Ludlow striker.
