Mystery surrounds whether former Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan and Barcelona player Edgar Davids will travel with Barnet to manage Bees' game against Hereford United in Skrill Premier League tomorrow
IT is not every day that a Champions League winner who has gained 74 caps for his country graces Edgar Street.
But this could happen tomorrow when controversial Dutch superstar Edgar Davids brings his Barnet team to Hereford.
The dreadlocked star, who wears protective goggles due to an eye condition, has graced Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Inter Milan.
He made a list of the 100 greatest living footballers to play the game put together by Brazilian legend Pele in 2004.
Davids is suspended from playing - he was sent-off against Wrexham last weekend.
And the Dutchman does not travel to all away games due to personal reasons.
Barnet FC Supporters Trust chairman Derek Rocholl is hoping Davids will come to Hereford.
“I think Edgar will come to Hereford, because he’s not suspended as a coach,” said Derek.
"It’s disappointing for home fans when he doesn’t come to some away games.
“It’s not every day that fans at this level get to see a Champions League winner at their club.
“I think some people find it a bit odd that he doesn’t go to some away games but there’s obviously reasons why he doesn’t do overnight stays.”
Davids was one of the biggest names in world football during the 1990s and 2000s and won the Champions League with Ajax in 1995.
Davids is the playercoach at Barnet, having taken over the role last year.
He wears the number one jersey for the Bees, but will not play against Hereford after being sent off for a third time in his Barnet career.
Another big name which caught the imagination at Edgar Street was former England head coach Sven Goran Eriksson.
Eriksson was the director of football at Notts County and watched them play the Bulls in December 2009.
Barnet are ninth in the Skrill Premier table and star winger Keanu Marsh- Brown is the joint top-scorer in the division with seven league goals.
