Greyhound Rugby Club, Hereford, lose 25-22 at St Leonards in Midlands Four West (North)
St Leonards 25 pts Greyhound 22 pts
TWO tries from Elliot Phillips could not stop Greyhound from a narrow away defeat in Midlands Four West (North).
The Hereford club hit back from 25-15 down late in the game and almost pulled off a fine comeback with a depleted side.
Greyhound had travelled with 15 players and fell behind to a converted try.
But Tom Dickinson made a fine interception and the ball was shipped wide to Phillips, who took the ball over the line.
Greyhound went ahead with a penalty from David Bromage but the hosts regained the lead with a drop-goal.
St Leonards slotted another penalty before Bromage’s try and conversion reduced the arrears.
The home side used their scrum advantage to overwhelm the visitors with their size and experience, scoring an unconverted try and penalty to lead 25-15.
However, Phillips bagged his second try, with Bromage converting.
