CHAIRMAN Paul Haley admitted he was breathless after Ross lost their unbeaten record in South-West Division Gloucester Two.
Ross led 11-8 at the interval and powered towards the table-toppers’ line in a thrilling climax.
“The crowd and players were left breathless at the end,” said Haley.
Old Cryptians opened the scoring with a penalty and grabbed a controversial first try after Billy Hambling had appeared to touch the ball down.
Two Dan Field penalties put Ross on the board before winger Craig Smith raced through to score after fine play from Huw Bellamy and Hambling.
Cryptians added two second- half tries to put them 20-11 ahead before Bellamy, Tim Hanks, Ben Chapman and Dave Green all went close to scoring for Ross.
