Maiden victory at Goodwood for Imogen 'Bundle' Pickard and Mister Fizz

IMOGEN ‘Bundle’ Pickard has secured her first victory since achieving her trainer’s licence.
Bundle, who lives near Kingsland, was thrilled when Mister Fizz raced to a photo-finish triumph at Goodwood.
Mister Fizz was the first horse that Bundle’s mother, Maggie Wilson, had bred and was also her first winner.
And the success was a special 16th birthday present for Megan Morris, who works on the yard at weekends.
“Megan had been riding Mister Fizz in his preparation for his Goodwood run and turned 16 that day,” said Bundle. “Megan said it was her best birthday present.”
Bundle runs the Pickard Racing yard with her partner Jonny Flook.
She has previously worked for both Richard Price and Richard Lee and was an assistant trainer to Edward Bevan.
“I decided to take out my own licence when I was pregnant with our first daughter,” recalled Bundle.
She achieved an NVQ level three in racehorse care and management and did courses at Newmarket.
“It was a fantastic joy and a great relief to get my first winner since being granted a licence to train.
“To have my first winner at such a prestigious racetrack as Goodwood was wonderful.
“Competing against the big boys who have won multiple times already was fantastic.”
Bundle has trained a handful of point to pointers and ridden a few winners.
“My partner, Jonny, has ridden winners on the flat and over jumps,” she said.
“Between us, we have more than 50 years’ equine experience and knowledge.”
She added: “Hopefully this will be the first of many winners but we understand how competitive this game is.”
