Luctonians and Hereford win but Westfields and Pegasus beaten
LUCTONIANS got their National Two North campaign underway with a 29-27 success against Hull at Mortimer Park.
And Hereford made an excellent start to their Midlands One West programme with a 46-19 home win over Stoke on Trent.
But there was little joy for Westfields, whose dismal run continued with a 1-0 home reverse by Alvechurch.
Continental Star, the only team beaten by Westfields in the Midlands Alliance season, took their revenge on Herefordshire by knocking Pegasus Juniors out of the FA Vase with a 3-2 extra-time win.
It was a mixed bag of results for the county’s West Midlands League Division One sides.
Bartestree hit the goal trail with a 9-2 success against visiting Wyrley while Lads Club found leaders Bridgnorth too hot to handle and suffered a 4-1 home reverse.
Ledbury Town became the first club this season to take points off Haughmond in a 1-1 draw at New Street.
Brockhampton maintained their challenge for runners-up spot in the Birmingham League Premier Division with a 45-run win over Old Elizabethans.
But Eastnor’s challenge for a top-five place in Division Two faltered with a seven-wicket home defeat by Old Elizabethans.
