Kingsland rider Erin Cullimore clinches victory for England

A KINGSLAND rider has clinched victory for England in an international showjumping competition.
Erin Cullimore, and her horse My Fletcher, jumped the winning clear round in the jump off to secure the Amateur Home International Competition against Wales and Ireland at The Wales and West Showground.
Erin was selected for the team after after good placings on the first two days of the Senior Amateur Show. “It was a bit tense waiting for the team selection to be posted, but I was so pleased to be representing my country,” she said.
After Erin jumped a clear in the first round and got four faults in the second, England and Ireland were equal on four faults and had to jump off for first place. As third to jump for England, with Ireland on eight faults by then, Erin and Fletcher had to jump clear to put England in an unassailable position.
“Fletcher is very fast but can sometimes get over excited so it was a tense moment when I came into the ring,” she said. “Also, he is technically a pony and we were competing against some big horses.”
But the pair withstood all the pressure with a clear round to finish in style.
“The commentator said, ‘Clear. That wins it for England’,” said Erin. “I was so proud of Fletcher and never thought I would ever hear those words in my life.”
Erin and Fletcher train with Sarah French at Kingsland Livery Services and attend the British Showjumping Junior Academy.
