Garnons Cricket Club remain title favourites in GB Liners Marches League Division One
AS the final round of matches approaches this weekend, the GB Liners Marches League Division One title could still go any of three ways.
Leaders Garnons remain title favourites and a home win against Weobley on Saturday would see them retain their championship.
Last Saturday, George Cotterell (55) and Bruce Blyth (48) batted well to underpin Garnons’ 222 against Crickhowell with the Welshmen then subsiding to a 124-run reverse thanks to Alan Jones (4-35), Richard Mayson (3-18) and James Bolton (2-35).
Goodrich kept in touch by beating Hay-on-Wye by eight wickets. Despite 59 from Joe Provis, Hay were restricted to 122-8 with Sam Griffiths (49 not out) and Andy Brown (33) leading the Goodrich reply.
There was a thrilling finish at Mortimer Park where Luctonians beat Builth Wells by four runs. Duncan Platford (61) and Paul Davies (59) batted well as the home side reached 225-6.
But Eric De Greeve (91) batted well for Builth whose challenge ended when Jeff Carter was stumped by Adam Price off Ian Probert (2-28) with just one ball remaining.
Paul Williams scored 100 for Weobley but his side still lost by 10 wickets against Weobley, for whom F Mann (102no) and Wayne Morgan (45no) shared an unbroken opening stand of 165.
Sam Pratley hit 81 for Marden but the villagers slipped to a seven-wicket reverse against Dales for whom Russell Palmer (66no), Chris Chadd (59no) and Nick Palmer (52) hit half-centuries.
