TWO young Ross rowers have a special medal in their collections after a win in the Coronation Regatta.
Nick Burden and Will Glandstone came out on top in the J15 section at the event held at Windsor Castle to mark the 60th anniversary of the Coronation.
The event attracted a high quality field and the Ross Junior squad was well represented in the knowledge that they would have to be at their best to bring home any prizes.
The Women’s WJ15 coxed quad of Alice Vines, Anna Davies (Shiplake Vikings), Skye Jenkins and Emily Morris, coxed by Rhodri Morris, beat Globe Rowing Club and Canford on their way to a final against Henley.
And the Wj16 coxless quad of Catrin Morris, Jess Crossman, Hazel Thomas, Molly Phillips beat Devils Elbow and Grange to set up a final clash with Tideway Scullers. Both crews lost out narrowly to leave Burden and Gladstone, who beat Molesey and Peterborough in the quarter-final and semi-finals respectively, as the last Ross hope.
And the pair did not disappoint, dominating their opposition from Molesey to win by two lengths in front of an ecstatic Ross crowd.
The medals were presented by Sir Steve Redgrave and were specially minted with the Queen’s emblem.
