FUNDING cuts at national level could affect the future of cricket in the county, says Herefordshire Cricket spokesman Ed Price.
Price is keen to put the game back into the players’ hands and asking them to fill in a survey to find out what they want.
Price believes this information collated – on everything from length and location of games, to travel - will be crucial to shaping a grassroots game that caters to players, and boosts membership at smaller clubs.
“The bottom line is that I don’t believe small clubs will be able to survive in the modern era,” said Price.
Price is keen to see the remaining ECB funding - of the £12m cut from cricket, £10m was allocated to grass roots - put to the best possible use.
Go to ecb.co.uk/playingsurvey to complete the 10-minute survey, and you’ll be in with a chance of winning one of 10 pairs of tickets for England’s Test series against India.
