Two goals from Tom Boyle helps Ledbury Town to win over Riverway

Ledbury Town 3 Riverway 1.

TWO goals from Tom Boyle helped Ledbury keep up their promotion aspirations in West Midlands Division Two.

But wasted chances prevented an even more emphatic win for the New Street side, who sit in third place with games in hand over the top two.

Jamie Welch fired against a post after three minutes and saw his follow-up kicked off the line as Ledbury made a lively start but the first came seven minutes later when Boyle netted.

A number of missed opportunities followed and it looked as though the wastefulness might be costly when Tom Lane levelled the scores on the half-hour.

Dan Herbert and James Febery failed to hit the target in the lead-up to the interval and it was not until seven minutes into the second period that Boyle scrambled home the second Ledbury goal following a corner.

Ian Merrick had a goal disallowed and Herbert again shot wide before, 12 minutes from the end, Boyle turned provider, delivering the cross from which Welch rounded off the scoring.

Town are five points behind table-topping Gornal Athletic Reserves but were due to travel to take on the leaders last night (Wednesday).
