HEREFORD’S Jamie Emmett has won his maiden downhill mountain-bike event.

The 11-year-old Bishop’s School pupil, who is following in the cycle tracks of his older brother Zac, did not stop at just one success.

He also took the final round of the rippers category for children aged 10 to 12 years old in the 661 Mini Downhill competition in the Forest of Dean event. This means that Jamie, from Whittern Way, headed the field of eight riders to take first place in his class and become the overall winner.

“Jamie is over the moon,” said dad Shaun. “We want to say a big thank-you to Pearce Cycles.”

For his triumph, Jamie was presented with a large helmet-shaped trophy, kneepads, gloves and a torch.
