Hereford United's Never Watch Alone initiative to launch against Barrow

HEREFORD United are to launch their ‘Never Watch Alone’ initiative when they host Barrow on March 16.

The scheme, in partnership with charities Echo Herefordshire and Affinity Trust, aims to help supporters with learning disabilities attend football games with the aid of non-disabled fans.

It was expected only three Hereford fans would sign up to be a ‘buddy’, but six have put their name down so far.

Denise Kerwood, project development worker at Echo, said: “It is a testament to Hereford United fans who want to make a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities and we are all looking forward to it.

“It can give people with learning disabilities more confidence, a sense of self-worth and give them a better sense of general well-being.”

There is no limit to the number of ‘buddies’ so anyone interested, subject to a CRB check, can contact Denise Kerwood on 01568 620307 or email denise.kerwood@ echohereforshire.co.uk
