Hereford Lads Club win at Ettingshall in West Midlands League Division Two

LADS Club remain unbeaten on the road after securing their sixth away win in nine West Midlands League Division Two matches with a 4-2 success at Ettingshall Park Farm.

A home defender deflected a Kiea Cowley cross against his own woodwork as Lads Club made a lively start and their pressure was rewarded when Danny Moon converted a penalty after Josh Pugh was brought down.

The home side levelled a minute later but Cowley quickly restored the lead with a sublime finish from Moon’s pass and the player-boss also played a part in the third, heading across goal for Tom Harding to volley in a screamer from 12 yards.

Cowley hit the bar as Lads Club finished the first half strongly but it was Ettingshall who scored next from a suspiciously offside position in the second period.

Harding secured the points, however, heading in a fine cross from Pugh and the visitors wasted chances to add to the margin in the closing stages when the hosts were reduced to 10 men.

Bartestree maintained their promotion push with an impressive 5-1 win at Penkridge Town which keeps them in second place in their debut season in West Midlands League football.

Mark Langford fired the villagers in front but Matt Wargen deflected a shot into his own goal to level the scores. Darren Andrews seized on a Marc Avery pass to restore the lead and James Upcott finished off the third after a Langford shot came back off the bar.

Dan Hill converted a penalty to extend the lead in the second period and was also instrumental in the fifth, heading a Jody Dawe cross against the bar for veteran striker Tony Richards to slot home.
