HEREFORD Roller Girls came off second best when they hosted Nottingham Roller Girls at Hereford Leisure Centre.

The East Midlanders proved strong opposition and returned home with an impressive 287-183 victory.

“It was our first game under the new rules which were introduced at the beginning of the year, and Nottingham gave us a really tough match,” admitted club chairman Dee Montague.

“But there was a lot of great feedback from them and from the referees.”

Currently the Hereford side are not members of a league or cup competition.

“But each open bout we compete in contributes to our rankings,” said Montague.

“When we are able to become members of the UKRDA these rankings will become even more important.”

There are around 60 teams in the UK with matches arranged to develop experience.

“In years to come, with more teams forming all the time, there may be scope to develop regional leagues,” said Montague.

Hereford Roller Girls’ next outing is away at Evolution Roller Girls in Shrewsbury on March 31.
