IT was a day to forget for most of the county’s rugby sides.
Luctonians made their second visit to Yorkshire in eight days and suffered a similar outcome to that of their first visit, going down 36-20 at Sheffield in National Two North. Hereford’s recent excellent run in Midlands One West also came to an end when they were beaten 41-28 by Midlands One West high-fliers Lichfield.
Midlands Three West (South) promotion chasers Leamingtonians carried too much fire-power for Ledhury, who were beaten 22-12 at Ross Road.
And Bromyard did their chances of avoiding the drop in Midlands Four West (North) little good with a 34-17 home reverse against fellow-strugglers Five Ways Old Edwardians.
The sole bright spot came in Midlands Five West (South) where Greyhound maintained their promotion challenge with a 26-16 success against visiting Wellesbourne.
Meanwhile, Ross remain on the fringes of the Gloucester 2 promotion race after a 19-19 draw at St Brendans Old Boys.
In the Midland Alliance, there was an excellent result for fifth-placed Westfields who beat third-placed Loughborough University 2-1 at allpay.park.
Goals from Paul Allam and Kane Kahaki gave Pegasus Juniors a 2-1 success at Shifnal Town while Wellington travelled to Bustleholme and blitzed the basement club 4-0.
Bromyard Town were beaten 2-1 at home by Bartley Green.
Ledbury’s inactivity in Division Tow cost them top spot in Division Two but the other two county sides took closer order near the top of the table with victories.
Lads Club were 4-2 winners at Ettingshall Park Farm while Bartestree did even better with a 5-1 success at Penkridge.
