HEREFORDSHIRE clubs continue to hold three of the top four places in Division Two of the West Midlands League after good results in the past week.

Bartestree boosted their promotion hopes with a 4-1 win over Malvern Town Reserves but had to battle back from a goal down to do so.

The visitors went ahead after nine minutes but the villagers equalised six minutes later when Matt Reeve finished superbly.

Darren Andrews was felled in the area shortly afterwards with Danny Hill gving Bartestree the lead from the penalty spot.

Reeve and Ryan Tabb bagged second-half goals to underline the win.

Hereford Lads Club are in close contention after a midweek win at Malvern Reserves was followed by a stalemate with Gornal Athletic Reserves.

Kiea Cowley and Arron Turner bagged the goals at Malvern but the city side were unable to find a way through against third-placed Gornal.

Player-boss Danny Moon came closest to breaking the deadlock witha header from Josh Pugh’s corner which was booted off the line.

Both sides finished with 10 men after Jordan Burke and a Gornal player were sent off early in the second-half.

Ledbury Town continue to head the table after a 2-2 draw at Riverway.

And the New Street side continue to nurture hopes of further silverware after reaching the third round of the Smedley Crooke Memorial Trophy with a 3-1 win over Midland Combination Division Two side Continental Star Reserves.

Dan Herbert, Jamie Welch and Duncan Preedy gave Town a comfortable advantage at half-time with the visitors’ consolation goal arriving 15 minutes from time.
