ON-fire Ledbury Town cemented their place at the top of Division Two of the West Midlands League with a crushing 9-1 win over visiting Red Star Alma.

The New Street side rammed in three goals in the first seven minutes against hapless Alma whose task was made even more difficult with the exit of injured goalkeeper Dale Hendy after the third goal.

Dan Herbert opened the scoring after just two minutes with Tom Boyle grabbing the second shortly afterwards.

Craig Kitchener added the third with James Febery getting his name on the scoresheet on 20 minutes.

Jamie Welch then took over the scoring mantle, firing in an eight-minute hat-trick in the lead-up to half-time.

Welch added two more either side of penalty save by Town keeper Lewis Skyers before Alma gained some consolation with a late strike from Craig Smallman.

Bartestree kept up the pressure at the top of the table with a 3-2 win over visiting Wolverhampton Sporting Community Reserves.

But the villagers had to battle back from an early shock when Sporting’s strikers combined to open the scoring.

Full-back Callum Omelasz quickly levelled for the home side and his fellow 17-year-old, Miles Langford then scored twice to put Bartestree fully in command.

Sporting pulled a goal back just before the interval and there was no further scoring after the break, although both sides finished with 10 men after the dismissals of Tom Davies and a Sporting player.

Fourteen games into their season, Hereford Lads Club remain unbeaten but they will feel they missed a chance to close ranks on the leaders after being held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Team Dudley.

The Midlanders took an early lead against the run of play through Myles Nettleford but Lads Club hit back to level through Steve Dixon.

Danny Moon converted a penalty after Josh Pugh was brought down but, just as the home side were expecting to take their lead into the second period, Nettleford rifled home his second after a defence-splitting pass.

In the second period, Lads Club dominated possession but a draw was probably a fair result based on chances created.
