Ross 12 pts Cotham Park 3

A MAN-of-the-match display from Casey Morgan wrapped up a hard-fought home win for Ross Rugby Club yesterday (Saturday) in Gloucester Two.
Morgan scored all of Ross’ points in an absorbing battle against a spirited Cotham Park side on a heavy pitch at Greytree.
It was the eighth win of the season for Ross, who are fifth in the division.
Ross were reduced to 14 men early in the second half when skipper Gavin Oates was yellow-carded by referee Dave Meek for persistent foul play.
“Dave always put me in the sin-bin,” joked Oates. “He would agree that it has become a regular thing.”
Morgan, a flanker, sealed Ross’ triumph in the last minute, breaking three tackles to dive over in the right-hand corner after Ross had won a five-metre scrum.
Morgan had earlier opened the scoring in the seventh minute, bursting from the back of another five-metre scrum to grab his first try before slotting the conversion.
Morgan also missed a second-half penalty attempt, while the Bristol outfit scored their points through Ricky Jones’ well-struck 72nd-minute penalty.
“That was the youngest forwards that I have put out this season and they were excellent,” said delighted Ross coach John Arundel.
