HEREFORD Sixth Form College has started an elite athlete support programme to assist a number of top quality performers following courses.

The programme is designed to help student athletes of national standard achieve their full sporting potential while maximising their academic success.

Five students have achieved this elite status during the current academic year.

Race-walker Tasha Webster is a former John Masefield High School pupil, road-cyclist Annasley Park previously studied at Lady Hawkins’ School as did netball player Ellie Smith, golfer Chris Makin is an ex-Aylestone School pupil while judo player Jennifer Smith has joined the college from Lucton School.

Athletes must apply for the programme which provides support for all aspects of their development including fitness scheduling, online resources, support workshops, individualised timetables, physiotherapy, sports therapy, mentoring and also offers financial support.

Qualifying students are also provided with a kit package from suppliers Clubsport.

Prospective students seeking more information about the elite athlete support programme should contact the PE Department at Hereford Sixth Form College by emailing sixth-form@hereford.ac.uk or calling (01432) 355166.
