Herefordshire A though to short mat bowls inter-county knock-out competition

HEREFORDSHIRE ‘A’ have qualified for the knock-out phase of the English Short Mat Bowling Association’s inter-county competition, starting in 2013.

The county side made it through after a double success against Gloucestershire, with wins at home and away.

“The first game was at county’s home venue, the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye, with the return leg at Churchdown Community Centre in Gloucester.

“Most teams have a slight advantage when playing at their home venue, so we won this game convincingly 26-14 in points and 183-145 in shots,” said captain Brian Claeesen.

“The return leg was far more close and was nail-biting stuff.”

Herefordshire ‘A’, however, once again produced the goods to win 23-17 in points and 178-173 in shots.
