Paralympic medallists Nyree Kindred and Ellie Simmonds join up for pool session

SWIMMER Nyree Kindred hosted a special training session this week with Ellie Simmonds, who has been shortlisted for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Nyree was among seven British medallists from London 2012 who led Tuesday’s session for aspiring Olympians and Paralympians at Swansea’s National Pool.

She helped lead a mixed group of 20 disabled and able-bodied youngsters, from the Swim Wales disability talent ID programme and local swimming clubs.

Nyree, from Hereford, said: “As a mum and a Paralympic medallist, I hope we can build on the momentum from London and get more children involved in the sport.”

Nyree is a member of the British Gas GBR Disability Swimming Team. British Gas has been the principal partner of British Swimming since 2009 and is encouraging everyone in Britain to discover the benefits of swimming.
