Wrens Nest 2 Hereford Lads Club 4

LADS Club striker Mike Olive will be sidelined for around 15 months after suffering a horror injury at Wrens Nest.

Olive scored twice for fifth-placed Lads Club before breaking a leg and dislocating an ankle in Saturday’s West Midlands League Division Two match.

Assistant manager Richie Jones said: “Our hardfought three points were marred by a horrific injury to Mike.

“According to the doctor who operated on him at a hospital in Wolverhampton, Mike will not be back playing for around 15 months.”

Player-manger Danny Moon opened the scoring from the edge of the area after good approach play by Olive.

Nest equalised after Moon lost the ball and a home striker outpaced Matt Evans to finish past Steve Bell.

Olive put Lads Club 2-1 ahead before the interval and then further goals after the break from Kiea Cowley and Olive swept them into a 4-1 advantage.

After Olive’s nasty injury, the hosts scored from the penalty spot as the game petered out.
