Shawbury United 5 Pegasus Juniors 0.

PEGASUS Juniors conceded two penalties and a couple of wonder-strikes to slip to their heaviest West Midlands League Premier Division reverse of the season.

Juniors were the better side for the first 20 minutes but Paul Allam gave away a spot-kick after a defensive misunderstanding to present Robbie Millington with the chance to open the scoring for the home side.

Then two tremendous 25-yard strikes from Matthew Ballard and Lester Alderson stretched the home lead before the interval.

A foul on Stuart Ellis gave Ballard the chance to extend Shawbury’s advantage from a second spot-kick in the second period.

And Ellis then beat the Juniors offside trap and rounded keeper Mikeal Corbisier to complete a disappointing day for the city side.

l Pegasus Ladies had a rather better time, inflicting a first defeat of the season on West Midlands Regional Women’s League Premier Division leaders Solihull Ladies.

Mel Mayo scored direct from a corner and then Emily Lovelock was sent clear by Charlotte Criddle to score the second in a 2-0 success which takes Pegasus up to fourth with games in hand.

l Pegasus Ladies Reserves beat Hanwood Saints Ladies 4-1 to maintain their 100 per cent record in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Ladies League.

Courtney Bowkett (pen), Becky Gummery, Roxy Payne and Lindsay Wadelin bagged the Pegasus goals.

Ledbury Town 9 Sikh Hunters 4.

JAMIE Welch scored five times as the West Midlands League Division Two leaders continued their prolific run of goalscoring form in their seventh straight win.

Town have scored 43 goals in their remarkable sequence, conceding just six times. Welch struck first after only five minutes when he smashed home a free-kick from Neil Gardiner and added a second after fine work by James Dean.

Pat Locke came forward from left-back to smash in the third before a Gardiner shot was deflected in for an own goal.

Gardiner was able to take the credit for the fifth, finishing off a Tom Boyle cross from a difficult angle, before Dan Herbert rounded off a memorable first 40 minutes with Town’s sixth.

Chetan Goray pulled one back just before the interval but Welch was quickly back on the mark after the break, completing his treble on 51 minutes and bagging a fourth three minutes later.

Two Ashley Thorpe goals cut the deficit but Welch added his fifth in the last five minutes before Justin Nisbett had the last word for the visitors.

l SINKUMS have gone five points clear at the top of the Herefordshire League Premier Division after a conclusive 3-1 home win over Wellington Reserves.

The visitors had taken the lead in the early stages but Scott Turner bagged an equaliser just before the interval.

A superb save from Sinkums goalkeeper Adam Rocke on the hour-mark inspired his side who took the lead shortly afterwards with a fine strike from man-of-the-match Damian Gallimore. And then, in the 70th minute, the result was made safe when Zak Turner headed in a Scott Turner cross.

Mercia Athletic have gone second after a goal-glut against Kington Town. The sides produced 14 goals between then with Mercia winning 8-6. Hinton moved above city rivals Lads Club Reserves with a 4-1 success.

Westfields Reserves’ trip to Bartestree Reserves was called off when the villagers were unable to raise a side.
