WESTSIDE are back up to third place in Division Two of the West Midlands League after a convincing 52-28 win over Yendys.

Helan Hancock was able to return as goalshooter in a line-up which also featured Ellie Smith GA, Stacey Barker WA, Anna Mulderrig C, Aimee Phillips WD, Steph Snowzell GD and Debbie Bowdley GK for what had traditionally been a close-fought match.

A strong start from Westside enabled their defence to apply early pressure on the Yendys attack while Phillips and Mulderrig allowed a fast and controlled counter-attack through the mid-court, enabling Barker to create some lovely movement and feeds into the circle.

Westside were up 11-4 at the first- quarter break and the city side continued in similar vein in the second quarter. Smith and Hancock linked well together in the shooting circle, with quick inter-passing and near faultless shooting.

Yendys started to lose focus and Westside were able to use this to their advantage to win both the second and third quarters.

At the three-quarter break a few changes were made which saw Amy Rimmer make her debut at WD, moving player-of-the-match Phillips to GK, Bowdley to GS, Hancock to GA while Katie Parkes came on at WA.

Westside kept their form and composure throughout the last quarter with Parkes utilising the extra height in the circle and good pressure from Rimmer allowing turnover opportunities which Westside took to extend their lead.
