A HEREFORD student has completed a gruelling 62-mile trek to the foot of Mount Fuji in under two days.
Joseph Tame, aged 29, walked almost non-stop for 31 hours over seven mountain peaks to raise money for the Oxfam Trailwalker fundraising event.
The trek started in Odawara, an hour west of Tokyo, and finished at the foot of the legendary mountain.
Joseph, from Orcop Hill, is currently spending a year in Japan as part of his Japanese Studies degree course at the University of Sheffield.
He has so far raised more than £2,000 for Oxfam Trailwalker, which aims to overcome poverty and injustice throughout the world.
"This trek was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do," said Joseph, who was helped by a support team who followed him by car, carrying food and clothes.
"It was an incredible experience for all involved and we are delighted to have raised so much money for such a worthwhile cause.
"The scenes as we arrived at the foot of Mount Fuji were breathtaking, making this incredible journey completely worth it," he added.
Joseph is hoping to increase the amount of money raised and further donations can be made until July 1.
