A COUPLE had a lucky escape after their car overturned after it passed the roundabout leading on to the A40.

Dr Malcolm Russell, who was called to the accident off the M50 last Saturday representing Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS), described the incident as "quite remarkable".

He said the Mercedes had left the road, hit a barrier and rolled over. Its four airbags were then deployed.

"The car was severely damaged but, remarkably, neither of the occupants appeared to have any serious injury, nor were they significantly trapped," he said.

"Checking over the casualties, I was amazed at their condition given the state of the vehicle and the damage it had suffered."

MARS is a group of highly-trained volunteers which deliver enhanced and immediate medical care in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
