Leinthall Earls
THE red public telephone box, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, was once a familiar sight on the streets throughout the country. Modernisation and the increased use of mobile phones have seen their demise. Those that remain are mainly in rural areas. Keen to record history, Peter Manders couldn’t resist this splash of colour against the summer foliage at Leinthall Earls, with the equally vibrant “lamp” post box of the 1940s mounted on a post nearby. Leinthall Earls is south of Wigmore off the A4110.
