MORE than 60 potential apprentices descended on the Amey depot at Rotherwas for an open day designed for young people to have a taste of the life of an Amey employee.
The event was held in conjunction with the National Apprenticeship Service and Herefordshire College of Technology to provide advice and guidance on Apprenticeships.
Julia Bakewell from the National Apprenticeship Service commented: “This is a fantastic start to our 100 in 100 Campaign in Herefordshire, designed to achieve 100 apprenticeship jobs in 100 days.
Mark Thomas, service director, said: “It is vital that Amey supports young people and invests time into passing on the skills and knowledge needed for them progress.
“This, in turn can only serve to ensure a strong team of employees for the future.”
Those who express an interest in a particular trade or business area will be given the opportunity to spend some time with the managers, tour the workshops and even use some of the tools and machinery they would be working with on a daily basis.
Amey will be recruiting 12 apprentices across several business areas.
