TWO people died following a head on crash on the A44 Bromyard Road near Cotheridge on Sunday, (October 15).

West Mercia Police are investigating the incident in which a black Suzuki motorbike, carrying the two people, was in collision with a blue Citroen C4 travelling in the opposite direction towards Worcester.

The motorbike rider, a man in his 40s, was declared deceased at the scene and the pillion passenger, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Royal Worcester Hospital where she was sadly later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Citroen, a man in his 60s, is not reported to have been physically injured.

The incident happened at 1.40pm, and the road was closed throughout the afternoon. 

Geoffrey Baham, a resident of Cotheridge Lane, said: "We had two air ambulances here, and the road was closed until 8.30pm.

"We have been complaining that something should be done (about the area) - there is a lethal turning there.

"We have all complained about it - nothing was, and now we have two fatalities."

Formal identification is due to take place and next of kin have been notified.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anybody who saw the manner in which either vehicle was being driving prior to the collision, to call 101, quoting incident number 425s.
