MYSTERY surrounds the closure of a Post Office - more than two weeks after it temporarily shut.

Postal services at Dines Green Post Office remain closed but the shop itself is open for business.

Staff at the Post Office have failed to explain why the branch has been closed, citing "operational reasons" but refused to tell the Worcester News exactly what this means.

The Gresham Road branch closed on Wednesday, September 27.

People have been advised to visit St Johns Post Office, in King Charles Place, which is about 22 minutes away on foot or a six minute drive.

A Post Office spokesman apologised to customers.

He said: "We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Dines Green Post Office. This is due to operational reasons. We are working hard to restore services to the area as soon as possible.

"In the meantime, customers can access Post Office services at any Post Office, including St Johns Post Office, Unit 6B, King Charles Place, St Johns, Worcester. "

Wayne O' Neil, aged 47, of Gresham Road, said: "It is frustrating when the shop part is open but the Post Office is not and they are not telling us why.

"There have been a lot of people complaining.

"Old age pensioners will have to go all the way to St John's to pay their bill or get their pension. I don't have a car so I would have to walk down there. We don't know if it is permanently closing.

"We have been told nothing."
