HOT weather is set to return to Worcestershire, thanks to a fickle hurricane.

Yesterday, the remnants of Hurricane Gert brought heavy rain to Worcestershire - but it seems like she's now had a change of heart.

The hurricane has brought extra tropical air from the south which is set to remain on Tuesday (August 22) meaning Worcestershire should have a rare day of sunshine.

Paul Michaelwaite, from Pershore-based netweather.tv, said: "It should be around 25 or 26 degrees on Tuesday but it will feel a lot warmer than that, it is going to be quite humid.

"It will be fairly warm on Wednesday but it will fall back to below average temperatures after then."

The sunshine will be a rare departure from a largely wet and windy August in Worcestershire

The UK had already experienced its wettest July in five years and that trend has continued throughout August.

Although Hurricane Gert had lost much of its power as it travelled across the Atlantic, the remnants brought heavy bursts of rain and wind to the UK across the weekend, including in Worcestershire.

Dave Throup, Environment Agency manager, tweeted on Sunday (August 20): "We are currently enjoying what remains of Hurricane Gert.

"Will deposit 15-25mm of rain widely.

"Watch out for poor travelling conditions."
