A WORCESTER headteacher is among a group of professionals who will be attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge for charity.

Mark Pollard, headteacher of Bishop Perowne CE College, will join nine other men aiming to conquer the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in just 24 hours on Saturday, June 24.

Participants are required to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, which have a combined height of 3,407 meters and an estimated walking distance of 27 miles.

The team includes two headteachers, a deputy headteacher, a doctor, businessmen and an ex-professional cricketer.

The group is aiming to raise £15,000 to be shared between Parkinson’s UK, The Mary Stevens Hospice, Sunfield Children’s Home, Cancer Research UK and the Rory the Robot Appeal, launched by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to fund specialist equipment to treat prostate cancer, which is above the current NHS provision.

Mark said: "We have a school motto of 'endeavour forever' which we use to encourage not only our students to push themselves but also our staff, so when I was asked to join the team I jumped at the chance. I’m looking forward to getting started and in advance I would like to thank everyone that donates to our challenge."
