BEES and butterflies will soon be joining children in a newly-transformed school courtyard near Tenbury.

The chapel courtyard at Abberley Hall School is blossoming thanks to a new design by an award-winning garden designer from Shropshire.

Casper Gabb, a gold medal winner at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and a parent at the school, put together a plan to enhance the space, used as a games area by young pupils at break time.

The design is specifically aimed at being child friendly, featuring planters with no sharp edges and flowers providing fragrance, texture, colour and interest all year round.

His company, Natural Elements Design, has worked with clients including Robbie Williams and Andrew Lloyd Webber and his gold medal-winning garden at Chelsea was also named as best in its category.

The planters he created for Abberley Hall School were made by the school’s design technology department.

This project is part of the school’s centenary celebrations, with funding for this work being boosted by donations from parents.
